La empresa Activision ha confirmado el día 1° de setiembre para el lanzamiento de Guitar Hero 5, en plataformas Ps2, Ps3, Wii y Xbox 360. Contará con una función que te permitirá tocar los temas musicales con la combinación de instrumentos que se te antoje.

Mientras que la versión de Xbox 360 contará con la aparición de famosos avatares, para la versión de Wii se utilizará directamente todos los contactos de la consola, dejando de lado los códigos de amigos,  solamente será suficiente tener amigos registrados en la consola.

También han lanzado la lista de canciones definitivas. Entre ellas se encuentra el siguiente listado, el cual suma 85 canciones:
